Banco de Málaga

The Bank of Málaga was founded in 1856 by Royal Decree of June 27, 1856, Royal Order of June 28, 1856 (authorizing Statutes), Royal Order of August 9, 1856 (authorizing Regulations) and Royal Order of September 24 of 1856. Merged with the Bank of Spain in November 1874. The Law of Issuing Banks and Credit Companies approved on January 26, 1856 by the progressive Government of Spain favored the creation of issuing companies and banks in different provinces with the capacity to legally issue banknotes in Spain. On March 19, 1874, a Decree was promulgated that converted the Bank of Spain into a national bank that monopolized the issuance of banknotes. The provincial issuing banks had to decide between losing their privilege and continuing as commercial banks or being absorbed by the Bank of Spain.
