(en) One of their main cities of the Cessetani was Tarraco, modern day Tarragona. Although there are no remains visible of the Cessetani civilization, the Roman remains of a theater, a stadium and a Roman city wall have survived. The Roman ruins of Tarraco are a Unesco World Heritage Site. Tarraco was captured by the Romans in 218 BC, after the Battle of Cissa, in which Gnaeus Cornelius Scipio triumphed over the Carthaginians during the beginning of the Second Punic War.
Most of the monetary issues of Tarraco show the Iberian legend KESE. Some rare silver divisional coins dated in the 3rd century BC show the inscriptions KESESALIR and KESEKU. Tarraco has also issued imitations of Emporitan drachma with the inscriptions TARAKONSALIR and KESE. These pieces use the toponym Tarakonsalir, meaning "silver of Tarakon". The Iberian legend Kese does not refer to the town, but to the "gens" that inhabited the town and its surroundings more generally.
After a limited issue of silver divisional coins, bronze coinage was struck from shortly before 211 BC until the early 1 st century BC, including some denarii.
The issues with Latin lettering show the inscription TARRACO, which refers to the city.
