The "America the Beautiful" US quarters are noticeably more scarce than the preceding state quarters. I live near Orlando, FL and so far I have found only three:
I wasn't getting any of them at all, so I bought the ones that are out, then ever since my girlfriend has been finding them like crazy! So if anyone is looking for any let me know; odds are I have them and just haven't updated my list.
Wonder who will be the first to find one in circulation ?!
Ha! I found one a few days after they were released! 'Twas a very pleasant surprise. Especially when considering the first 2012 coin I found was in May.
I've found almost all of them circulating except the new S mint that are suppose to circulate, but yet to find one of those ciculating. The first year was the hardest - didn't see them for a long time, now I get one every now and then. I keep every one I find and store them in a tube holder. I even went so far as to getting one back in change at the dollar store and noticing he had just opened a whole roll of them so I kept going back in the store buying things until they were all mine. I think he caught on to what I was doing but he said he couldn't just exchange them for bills because that was all the quarters he had. So I had to keep buying little bags of chips for a quarter and getting 3 back every time.
Guys, what's your favourite place in America? I've been watching a Yellowstone Old Faithful geyser webcam live and I think that this national park is my favourite place. I would spend there lots of time.
So, I checked the mintage figures of this series in the US Mint website (2010-2018 only, they dont have 2019 up yet) and ran a pivot table in Excel to check how likely one quarter will be to appear in our change, this is what I discovered:
From less likely to more likely colors are: Red / Orange / Yellow / Green
So, I would say that 2010-2012 are harder to find (with the exception of 2012 Denali). In my case, I would give a bigger valuation to those quarters because they are scarce.
