This coin is a very familiar topic here on Numiste as this type is widely known to most likely be a fake although not always. The Chinese are prolific in making forgeries. To be sure, we would need more information such as it's weight, composition, and a photo of the reverse.

I absolutely agree with you, but the contrast between reactions is so big, it sometimes really makes me laugh
This happens far too often. On another thread I was attempting to help verify a German Thaler unknown to anybody as far as my research could find. I took the time to help only to be abruptly cut off by another "expert" that claimed it was matter of factly 100% genuine with absolutely no documentation or evidence. Still waiting for him to provide proof of that claim.
Harry, I'm afraid some people here are just much smarter than we are. They can look at a coin from a far distance and from the corner of their eye and see if a coin is genuine or not. I don't have those abilities.

I read this forum for two reasons. First is to help answer questions where I can (I know my limitations) and second, to learn from those more knowledgeable than I in other areas. It does very little to help educate me (and countless others) when someone replies "fake" without giving any reason why they "know" it's fake. I'm sure many people join Numista to learn about coins and banknotes. Without the educational aspect Numista wouldn't be nearly as successful.

Absolutely agree. I have been collecting for 60+ years and still learn new things every single day and realize that there is still more I don't know than I do know.
Цитата: "hobbycoins"Hi.
Can anybody help me? Please
I want to know if this coins is Fake.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Luis
Luis,
As stated above there is an extremely high chance that your coin is fake.
The first thing you want to consider is the provenance of the coin. I would say that most real ones are in the hands of knowledgeable collectors. What are the origins of your coin? This could lead to good clues as to whether or not it is real.
The second thing to look at is the silver content. In my experience, most of the fake coins that have silver content are well below what they were made with at the mint.
The third thing is wear. Many fakes are made with fake wear. When compared to real coins this becomes very obvious.
Цитата: "blue-m"I appreciate a lot your comment, Thanks.
I bought this to a friend Collector from Albania, whom a I bought others coins previously.
Maybe, I made a mistake, when I did not see the year in this case .
Now, I am sure that it is fake or as in other case an imitation.
Thanks
great regards.
Luis
