This came as part of a joblot i bought locally some years ago , the main reason for buying was the english hammered silver coins in the lot . This 'coin' was in a small bag of roman and , i think , greek coins .
Anyone seen one before ?? What is it ??
it has the number '27' on both sides .

it weighs 8.8 grams .
thank in advance .
My guess - a coin weight ...
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?ct=exonumia&ttwe=y
and it may not be 27 but 2 · 7 perhaps. Traces of a dot between numbers.
Similar (but not the same) to this in that search, as an example ...

There is a Double Moidore with 27 Shillings value (so has S 27 lettering) ...

and a Half Moidore was 13 Shillings 5.1/2 Pence value.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moidore
So it was a weight to check the gold coin.

Lastly, it is on this page

under the section 'The Portuguese Moidore'
