Hi everyone,
Came across this coin in my purse today and thought it was just a normal 5 pence piece in gbp, but then I looked closer to see it had some sort of foreign writing on. Google says it's a 5 feninga coin so I wrote into Google all the details of the coin and it's told me it's a coin from Bosnia. I've looked but can only see the 2005 coins not the 2011. Just wondered if this coin has any value in gbp, and a little more about it as I love history.
Many thanks

Welcome to the site.
I just measured a UK five pence 2012 that I got in change yesterday, and you're right as it is the same size i.e. 18mm across - like the Bosnia and Herzegovina coin you mentioned above.
I see on the link it mentions 2005-2011 so I would have expected one with each year on - but there are only three years 2005 2008 2011 issued.
Value (dependant on coin condition) is on the site below ...
Hi Zac, thank you for the information. Yeh that's exacly the coin - I'd say it's in really good condition - looks brand new. Gone on the site you suggested but have no idea what it means?
Shows 2011 5 Feninga $ - - - - - - - 1.00 1.25
So does that mean in gbp it's 1.00 to 1.25? I'm sorry if I sound thick but I have no idea about currency - as far as I can see it looks as though it's showing $ and not pounds? If you could help that would be brillant as I'm just a mum not a coin collector. Many thanks
Yes - it is in USA $ as it is an American site, used a lot on here for coin valuations.
On their search page I typed in the country / region / face value / and also 2011 date.
I think $1.25 is about GB£1.00
In my reply earlier I also added a link with a little information which you asked for.
Shame about value, as it is a nice coin.
Also shame that on the Numista page there are no mintage figures - but also as the coin is only a year old it is usually not too valuable.
On that coin page if the country is clicked on it goes to >
Bosnia and Herzegovina - Mark convertible (1998-date)
100 fenings = 1 mark
so it is exactly in a way like the UK 5 pence in that it is 5/100 of the main currency unit i.e. the Bosnia equivalent of 5 pence face value.
Yeah well - just finding out about the history is exciting. I would try sell it for a 1.00 but it doesn't look like a sought-after coin really. Ah well I think I'll probably just keep it
