Hello everyone,

Please, does anyone know a website where I could find accurate information about the composition of coins, specifically Italian and French coins from the first half of the 20th century. I would like to know a certain exact composition, for example - Cu 950, Sn 40, Zn 10.
I have already managed to find information about the composition of Austro-Hungarian or German coins, but i couldn't find any specific information about the Italian and French coins.

Thank you in advance for your reply
I am coin collector and amateur numismatist from Czech republic with an interest in history.
Which ones exactly are you after? (I wanna remember that more "modern" italian proof sets contain exact contents on each coins)
For many coins it is indeed, difficult to get to know the exact composition.
My advice is; do a XRF-test. Than there is not any reason to doubt.
...you can run,  but you can't hide...

I'm searching about the same. Especially for modern coins. Are you interested to share results (I'm just at beginning).
Have a nice day and health.
My advice is to ask the State Mint in that country for information.
All state circulation coins were produced under the Act-decree , in which is the process and process of production. But in normal countries and modern history.
( Old coins really need metal analysis )
However, do not rely on the fact that the data published here is many times accurate.
I will give an example: my beloved made for 30 years -the composition of the metal is disclosed here ,, aluminum - bronze ,,
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces2015.html

however, reality and accuracy are different. ,, 91 % Cu (copper), 8 % Al (aluminium), 1% Mn (manganese),,
https://www.zlate-mince.cz/cssr_1_kcs.htm

all our modern coins listed here ,, aluminum ,,
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces2157.html
( Here I must add that there has been a correction and at least in the comments there is a specified composition )
they also contain magnesium , I think one percent.
https://www.zlate-mince.cz/CRO_10_h.htm

And here on this page you have all Czech modern coins described and precisely shown!

So ask someone from that country to publish their coins.
And colleagues, each coin also carries its personal history and story sometimes really ( creation of the Czechoslovak crown) special. https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Uchytilov%C3%A1
Ahoj Ivan

I am after French coins from 1917-1940 (for example: KM# 895, KM# 876) and Italian coins from 1908-1943 (for example: KM# 44, KM# 75b, KM# 74a)

There is an article in the Bulletin Numismatique indicating that KM895 (the variety without a dash below "Cmes") is pure zinc, rather than zinc alloyed with 0.5% aluminium for other varieties.

You'll find a lot of information about the composition of coins, especially for the second half of the 20th century till about 1981/82 here: https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/007822982
Unfortunately for the OP, there's very little information about the composition for the first half of the 20th century.
