I am looking to find out as much information of these two medallions as possible, as I know absolutely nothing. There is some amazing enamelling though

Thanks in advance

These are called "Challenge coins" . They are made for soldiers, cops, firefighters, anything. These were given out for tours in Iraq and being apart of the coalition. Some of these are rare as in the military or any other civil service you need to prove you done it but these are rather basic ( ie every soldier who went to Iraq in the US military should get one) .

Hope this helped
Mike,
That is a great bit of information, which I really enjoyed reading this morning. There must be hundreds, if not thousands of different types, which I can only assume have never been catalogued.
It would be wonderful to find out exactly why, and by whom these were issued, but at least I now know they are called "Challenge coins".
Many thanks for information, which has been a great help.
How much do you think they might be worth. They actually belong to a friend, but I am one of those people who love the research, and my friend does not.

As far as the worth i dont know i have seen some go on ebay for 10 to 20 USD but others go for over 100$ also no there is no catalogue but imagine that every police department lets say makes these as far as the Military ones you can usually google the name like "Iraq War Fallujah" challenge coin and it could tell you about the battle or how the award was given. Glad i can help you my friend !
