Hello all,
I have a £2 coin where there is a small (what I believe to be) misprint/ minting error. I was wondering if it would be of any value due to its novelty and uniqueness. Any tips, advice on where the next steps are would be great.
Thanks, Lucy.
this error is called a die chip meaning the die was most likely misused resulting in dome chipping around the edge of the design and yes sometimes these can have a premium on them however you probably would need someone from the UK to tell you if it is of any value or not.
As silvergeek has stated it is a die chip error, or as we call it in Australia, a cud.
As to its value, as always it all depends on what someone is willing to pay at the time. If you are looking at selling it then I would list it for auction on a web site such as ebay and see were the bidding takes you! As it is an unusually positioned cud then I think that collectors of error coins would be most interested in it.
