Yes, you are correct on the identity of the coin, but the date looks like VS 1980 (AD 1923) to me. The last digit is a zero, not another nine. Here's another example dated VS 1980 for comparison.

Hello
Thanks Seeker55

So after trying to understand this not the islamic calendar/numbering
it's seems to be Gurmukhi (Pendjabi) numbering
Please Tell me if i'm right or not
I have a lot of indian coin to identifie and date
The Vikram Samvat (VS) calendar used by some states in India is described here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikram_Samvat

In general you can subtract 57 from the VS date to get the AD date.

I'm not personally very familiar with the Punjabi language or the Gurmukhi script, but there are articles on these in Wikipedia.
The coin is not from Punjab but from the Princely State of Bundi located in Rajasthan that used devnagiri and farsi script on coins. So Gurmukhi / Punjabi is not used here. However VS was a common system used in many states including Punjab.
Every coin has a story
Thanks both for your reply

I'm just starting Indian coin:snif:
Very interesting but hard to understand for a french guy
I didn't manage yet to find examples of Indian numberings but I keep looking
I found some on wikipedia but it seems that I did not quite understand
If you have a simple link for a neophite do not hesitate:°

Thanks again
Guillaume

Here you'll find some Indian numerals from Krause:

The date numerals on your Bundi coin definitely look in Gurmukhi (and not in Devanagari):

Thanks Essor Prof

Happy to see that i was not too bad for Gurmukhi numeral :8D
