South Korea KM# 33

Although both the year 1989 and 1995 according to Numista belong to the same variety (KM#33.1), digits in the date are definitely different and not only in thickness. Compare the "9" in both dates (straight "back" vs the curved one):


So, should we have another variety added? I don't have more coins from these years to compare.

It seems more probable that 33.2 should cover additional year lines. Anyone can confirm?

No, no more year lines, already the thick and thin values for km33.1 and 33.2 are doubtful in my opinion.

 

Anyway, if the date is always the same format in the same year it can only be a type variant, and km decided no new type. So please don't change anything.

I scanned the 10 Won coins I have:

 

the only difference I found was with 1997; the left protruding part of the 1 is 56 pixels in height, all the other years have 50 pixels in height.

Still, the difference is very small in my opinion…
