Mint error, 1968 Gold Sovereign Elizabeth II?

Hello,
Seems to me that this 1968 "Gold Sovereign Elizabeth II" is faulty?
Is there a market for faults in gold or do they have a common value, if so, what would be its approximate value?
Thank you for your valuable review!

yes, 7,98 gr / 0.247 ounces ?
I think forgery is far more likely than mint error,
Good weight notwithstanding.
also evidently gold surface.

the voids in the rim

look very bad.

Looks very much like a lamination to me so I would say mint error.
I think that whatever the case, if genuine, ultimately the value is unfortunately melt value. Generally people won't pay anything over melt value even for perfect specimens let alone unattactive ones.
