Hello coin people,
Please help me to identify this coin that is very odd. Appears to be Britannia or Lady Liberty Seated facing right. I have done some research on possible types however there is not a clear example of a similar coin with the combination of Liberty seated right and obverse facing left.
Obverse: facing to the left, 4clear shoulder notches and a thin line on the left chest plate. Shoulder notches/pads have a boundary that is convex. The hair is tied back with a bow tie shape and there are 2 distinct ribbon ends that are swooped up and do not have the usual zig-zag shape. Lower of the ribbons is longer than the upper. Face outline shows upwards sloping chin, lips are there with a downwards sloping mouth. Nose outline and forehead have a smooth outline.
Reverse Side: holding a staff with her right arm raised and a branch with her left arm outstretched. Double line above the date. Branch appears to have 4 long thin leaves pointing upwards.
Possible coins that I have looked at are as follows:
British Half Penny: I cannot find any that are Britannia facing right with George 1-3 facing left.
Connecticut: only two Liberty facing right are known to exist and are very different than this coin. From the miller book: coin 33 (m2.2-d2) is very similar to this one but faces right, also the lower ribbon is not longer than the upper as in this coin) - see attached Miller coin photo
Nova Eborac: there is Liberty seated right coins in this type however the obverse is facing right.
