Hello,

I have recently received a coin from my grandmother, and am completely unsure on how to get the coin valued or where to sell it.

The coin comes with the certificate of authenticity and is cased. The details of the coin is below:

Elizabeth II (1952-date

Type

Non-circulating coin

2003

25 Pounds
25  = GBP 25

Currency

Pound (decimalized, 1971-date)

Composition

Gold (.917)

Weight

7.98 g

22.05 mm

I’ve been told to just put the coin on eBay, but I’m unsure of this option. Is there a specialist auction it could be included in? I’ve been trying to do some research as to the estimate price, but I cannot find anything about this coin. I’m unsure whether this is a good thing or not?!

Any help/valuation/where to sell it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to Numista. Start with the gold melt value. If proven to be genuine, melt value or slightly less is the most reasonable expectation until and unless you are able to find someone who is willing to pay a premium over melt value. Good luck with it.
