Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right spot to ask about this. I just wanted to bring it to attention that there are several issues with the Portuguese coins. I noticed when I looked at my account that the largest coins in my collection had changed as someone modified the sizes of the Portugal coin diameters and weights. N#907 N#3282

KM#584 also seems to be affected:

N#1237

That happened a couple of weeks ago with this coin where the decimal point disappeared so the dia. = 395 mm and weight = 2696 grams. I submitted a CR so it's fixed now.

Actually there seems to be many more, like this coin that weighs 20g and is 3870mm.

Edit:  I just looked and now the mate to the first coin I linked is 2673g and 395 mm.  This post should be moved to the Numista website forum as a bug report.

20 centavo coins have incorrect diameter and thickness (117mm).

Yes, site wide bug, Xavier was informed. It is not user input problem, so no need to fix those for now.

Errors data (weight and diameter) of Portugal coins are still visible.

Hello,

I fixed this issue and submitted change requests for all the impacted coins I could identify.

Is this error still appearing on these coins for someone else?

I have a change request pending on this coin:

N#1237

Yeah the errors for weights and diameter still show up on my end too.

There is also a mistake with me.

I approved the change requests, as they were starting to pile up.

However I have a doubt about measurements.

For the coin N#1237, the Standard Catalog of World Coins (46th edition) gives a weight of 3.2 grams and a diameter of 21 millimeters. I measured my coin, a VF coin dated 1963, and I found a diameter of about 20 mm and a weight of 3.00 g.

The coin N#907 is listed with 7.50 g and 26.7 mm in the SCWC (46th edition). I measured my coin, a F coin dated 1929, and I found about the same diameter but a weight of 7.71 g.

If you have these coins, could you please share which weight, diameter and thickness you find?

My coins are:

N#1237

VF--1968--20 mm.--3.05 g.--Thickness 1.1 mm

N#907

VF--1968--26.7 mm.--8.08 g.--Thickness 2.0 mm.

If you have these coins, could you please share which weight, diameter and thickness you find?

Mine are:

N#1237, 1962 VF:  Weight:  3 grams; Diameter: 20.2 mm

N#907,  1959 F: Weight:  8.06 grams; Diameter: 26.8 mm

Thank you all for input, this should be solved.

Thank you for the measures. I submitted a change request to set the weight to 8 g for N#907.

A bit late as the specific issue has been dealt with but this document provides all the weights for coins of the escudo.
