Roman Dupondius - but which one?

8 сообщений • просмотрено 161 раз

Dear community,

I found an old Roman Dupondius but it is quite hard to see what is on it.

Somebody suggested it could be from Augustus.

It is approx. 27 mm in diameter. I don't know about the composition or weight.

On the back side there are some letters * A A A F F M * as well as big S C.

On the front side there is a face (facing towards left) ( it might be this one N#247918).

Can you help me?

Thank you!

I think that it is the one you linked in your post but your coin is just too worn to be sure

Thank you for your reply! I will see, if I can also make a better picture.

I was able to make a slighty better picture. Is that helpful for the identification?

Dear Sjoelund apart from criticizing, can  you do anything else?   Something useful.

Have a look around in the forum, in the database, and you'll see, that I'm basically quite positive. I would like everybody else to be as active and positive as well, hence I try to “teach” members how to find their solutions to their questions, helping themselves….. before asking.

Can anyone estimate the worth of this coin?

(Given that it indeed is As - Augustus M MAECILIVS TVLLVS IIIVIR A A A F F S C)
