15 Francois 1791 fake

Dear Numista community,

I found this coin that looks like N#6099 but is obviously not silver. Is it a fake from the old times or a new fake? thanks in advance!

Doesn't look like a forgery, as times in Revolutionary France were very chaotic - & this is reflected in the striking on some of the coins.

Some expert in French coins can answer your question more fully than I ever can.

It looks like a contemporary (old) counterfeit to me.
