My grandfather found this coin on Bradenton Beach in Florida about 50 years ago. He told us he thought it was real but never had it looked at. I am now in possession of this coin and need help with what it might be and whether you think it’s real?  Any help would be appreciated!
specifics of this coin:
weight in grams: 22 grams

width in mm: Approx 41 mm

Here's hoping it's real!  Please provide a weight and diameter (g,mm).

The weight is 22 grams

The width at the widest point is 41 mm

Welcome to Numista. I am interested in knowing what the composition might be. Nothing looks right to me and I believe this is simply a fantasy piece.

This is why I’m here. I do know it’s at least 50 years old lol…. as that is when my grandfather found it on the beach.  Do you have any suggestions where I can bring this to have it looked at further?

This is the proper orientation to study what this coin is representing itself to be on a “pillar and waves” era type cob coin. The rough size of a 8 reales but the rough weight of a 4 Reales in Silver I might add. I cant say for certain but I don't believe your coin is silver.  An attempt to represent "waves" on the bottom and two faint pillars radiating up from the bottom.  Where information like the assayer, mint, date, denomination, etc, should be in the middle of the coin from left to right intersecting the “pillars”, I see nothing but a bunch of gibberish. Unless somebody sees something I am missing of course. Hope this helps to settle the matter.

Sorry, I was studying your coin and writing this comment while you were responding. I will respond in a private message to where I think you can go for confirmation as I don't like to advertise a reference publically. I am almost positive this is a fantasy piece and honestly, I would wait until others respond about their thoughts about this coin. Perhaps this will spare you the trouble.

Not authentic. Please read my edited comment above.

Thank you. I appreciate your looking at the coin and giving me your thoughts. I knew it was a shot in the dark:(

You are quite welcome. Look at the top of your page under messages and click on it. I sent you a link to use if you are still curious about it's authenticity.

Thank you!
