Found this in a bag of exonumia.

N#2296

RIP old friend.

Identifiable and you can read the date. Fancy 5 too.

Not dead. Could easily be a spark for someone to get interested in collecting.

You think so?  You make good points, how would I have known what it was if I didn't see the details?

Interesting. Then perhaps I'll hold on to it!

A poor example is far better than no example at all in my opinion.  If I can find no other, I gladly fill holes in my date collection sets with these types of examples until and if I can find a better one for the  specific date. This coin looks to have heavy but honest wear in everyday circulation.

Are 2cent so irregularly shaped?  I had presumed it to be smashed to some degree.

Manufactured perfectly round but who knows where it's been or what exactly happened to cause the irregular shape in it's 157 year history. Still legible, a part of history, and a keeper for me no matter the condition. Just brings the coin geek out of me. 😁

This should break your heart. Does mine.

Indeed, what kind of fool  does such useless nonsens?
