Interesting unidentified Roman Coin

I found another one that probably ain´t common

Unfortunately only the reverse side shows anything, the front is in too poor condition.

Lettering says Rome et AVG , and it has the Lettering TIBERC stamped above a temple (maybe Lugdunum or Lyons)

The Lettering TIBERC is on a lower level, i think it was stamped in while the coin was struck

Diameter is 22,5mm

Weight is 9,6g

I don't know what it is but I'm fairly certain this is not an ancient Roman coin. Probably not even a coin but a medallion or token of some sort. Hopefully someone recognizes it and can add more information. 🧐

However, in my opinion, yours is a reproduction. The coins surface and lettering look modern to me.

i found quite a lot of ones with quite the same altar on it, but none was similar to the one i have.

Especially the word TIBER was seen on none of them.

The colouring of the coin looks the same also on the TIBER part, so i suggest it was there at the time the coin was struck.

The museum of countermarks has a bunch of coin starting with TIB from the reign of Augustus and Tiberius so it definitely fits your coins period. Maybe try the discussion board on Forvm Ancient Coins if you haven't already. It's a more specialized site for ancient coins than Numista. Good luck! 😃
