NGC valuation

I've read somewhere here that NGC's valuation of world coins tend to be underestimated compared to, say American or British coins.

Anyone has experiences on this to share?

They have some silly prices on there.. For instance the alwar or bikanir state rupee coins are worth a lot more than NGC say; they cater mainly for the American market.

NGC is well recognized in North America for U.S and Canada coins. I am not sure about other than that.

Absolutely.

As a general rule every old coin is worth more in its own country, as the collectors are more numerous and the demand is higher.
My best bargains are medieval Austrian and Hungarian coins from Poland; I bought some France medievals and Swiss cantons coins in my home country (Hungary) and two weeks later I sold them in Geneve for 3 times more. ... and cheapest (original!!) Habsburg Thalers I bought in Cairo.
Never buy Ottoman coins in Turkey, but that is a great place to sell them!

So, use NGC with moderation outside the US!

Yeah I pick up a lot of my British colonial stuff from other countries like India picking up Barbados stuff etc, however sometimes it's good to buy straight from the colonies where they were commonplace and are under-valued !
