1924 A German 5 Rentenpfennig

I can only find that the description on this site says the coin has a reeded edge while mine has a round edge.  Where can i find out more info about if this is real or fake? Not sure if this makes it more valuable.

Hello and welcome to Numista!

Looks to me like the edge is just worn smooth.  There is a lot of wear (look at the ends of the wheat ears).  Your coin is real, just worn.

Rsirian is right, just a worn coin, mine is nicely reeded, like this:

I have a doubt.

I think the indentations were never there, such wear and tear would not be possible for a coin preserved in this way. I drive strictly according to the photos and there is not even the slightest sign of reeds on the edge.

I think, I can see the remnants.

But I might be mistaken, since the image isn't focussed well.

I based my answer on my coin.  Less wear than the OP's and the reeding is close to being worn off.

about the same wear and tear

They are also visible

Under the microscope:

I only raise the doubt that it is strange that only the edge has suffered such severe wear compared to the obverse and reverse of the coin.

It's strange, but it can happen if special conditions were created in the rotation of the telephone machine or something.

OP's coin in brighter light:

I have not formed an opinion on what happened here but I THINK I see the remnants of reeds in this lighting.

My initial reaction to this type of "error" is that there wasn't only one made that way.  Surely, there would be others reported in the 100 years since.  I did a search (not exhaustive by any means) but couldn't find any other reported, even on coin forums.  Maybe there were others that haven't been discovered yet but with the amount of wear on this coin I'm more inclined to believe the reeded edge was worn smooth.  Of course I could be wrong, but ask yourself, if you saw this coin on ebay under “error, made with a smooth edge” would you assume “mint error” or “scam”?

I'm not implying the OP is trying to scam anybody.  I'm just expressing my thought process.
