Identification of two Canada 5 cent coins

9 сообщений • просмотрено 195 раз

I am trying to determine the Numista N unique number for two coins of Canada. Both are five cent coins, and each have the obverse with a bare-headed Queen Elizabeth II. Both are magnetic. One matches the features of N# 396 (the 2006 coin with P below the Queen), and I am thinking the 2011 coin may be the Numista N# 491 as it also matches the features (it has the RCM logo) but there is no photo with this page. Can you assist? Thanks in advance.

The first coin has the Royal Canadian Mint logo.

N# 396 has Queen with crown on obverse.

N# 395 (KM# 491) has Queen bare headed on obverse. Picture of obverse is in comments.  probably being revised due to this post:  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic133870.html

The page should be helpful as well:

There are three varieties of the 2006. One with the P composition mark, one with the Mint Logo and both are magnetic. There is a third 2006  which has no logo and no P. It is plain. It is also not magnetic. There used to be a page for it but it seems not to be here anymore, and it is not included on the current page for them.

N#421  (old page, year line moved to):

N#377356

Pages are still under construction.  See my first post.

Rsirian1 The penny and the nickel are different. The non magnetic penny is made with zinc and then plated. The 2006 non magnetic 5 cent I believe was cupro nickel  and did not attract a magnet well and it is missing both the P composition mark and the mint logo. The P and logo two types both being made with plated steel. Coins and Canada shows a 2006 5 cent with no marks but does not give a composition listing.

At one time there was a page on numista for this 5 cent as I describe but it has been removed.

 I had many of them.

There was a proof silver coin minted too with no mint or composition mark.

Calgary Coin and Antique describes all these types on calgarycoin.com .

Oops!  My mistake.  Thought I was looking at the 5 cent pages.  Sorry.

Better?  I believe the last one was just created because of the post I referenced. The first one must still be under construction because the title still says “non-magnetic” even though it is obviously magnetic.
