Roman Bronze Coins Identification

7 сообщений • просмотрено 136 раз

Hi all,

I have recently purchased some ancient Roman bronze coins, and am wondering if anyone would be able to help me regarding identifying the year/ type. Typically, I collect coins from the 19th and 20th century, so this is all new to me. I would appreciate any help. I’m not sure if these are too worn to be attributed correctly.

Coin One: ~16mm, 1.94g

Coin Two: ~15mm, 2.20g

Thank you very much.

the first on would be arcadius.

Thank you very much. That should make it easier to narrow down now.

The second is from the fourth century : “advancing right, dragging captive and holding labarum

GLORIA REPVBLICAE or GLORIA ROMANORVM

I've tried the Numista search without success, maybe I'm not a good designer 😵‍💫

Then “bust left”, I find no coin 😒

Bust is facing right - OP's photo needs to be rotated 180 degrees.

Oops, that would make more sense. My coin was ‘one of a kind’ for a second there. 😆 Thanks for all your help everyone, I should be able to add the correct one to my collection now.
