Looks like a groat, although hammered stuff isn't my forte I hate them actually ha ! I swapped one that I had "/
The only hammered stuff I will be collecting is from now back to the commonwealth days simply because it was a very significant part of our history.
Welcome to the site.
Still looking into details, but looks more like stamped as 1567 not 1557 to me?
What size is the coin? What does the other side look like?
I put 1557 in the Advanced Search on here and nothing for England/U.K. came up, but 1567 found that one above. The size for that is 25mm - is yours? The same lettering POSVI DEV ADIVTOREM MEV as yours, and the other side should have ELIZABETH DG ANG FR ET HI REGINA around a portrait.
Here are some other sixpences, 1573 1562 1567 dates ... http://www.silver6pence.co.uk/category-elizabeth-i-----1558---1603.html

Maybe it is a penny, as they are around 14mm (I think) and the six pence is 25mm.
A groat (four pence) is 20mm, and a shilling is 31mm, so it is neither of those either.
Yes, 1567 is better - as Elizabeth 1st was 1558–1603 so 1557 would not fit !
