Hi, I had already posted this coin for identification on the French counterpart of the forum, to no avail yet. So I'm giving it a try here. This is a counterstamped coin, with only the counterstamps visible. While it does look like a New England Shilling at first glance, I don't think it could be one, because the lettering is much different, and also because the XII is repeated twice (once on each side) on my coin, while the shilling would have only one XII and NE on the other side. It does not seem to be silver, it's rather bronze or copper. Its diameter is 28 mm and it weighs 3,9 g. What do you think ?
Thanks !
Ginger

Uh, according to cgb.fr, the weight would be 1,59 g, so Numista would be wrong… Thanks to your tip, I think I really know what this is. Thank you so much for your help !

Yes, making coins then wasn't as easy as it is now, no wonder they are no two coins exactly alike. It's just that 6 g compared 3,9 g seemed a whole lot different. I'll classify it as such.
