Old Indian (?) Coin, level impossible

2 сообщений • просмотрено 63 раз

Hey,

I got this coin a while back in a pre 1900 lot of coins

I have absolutely no idea about south Asian coins so maybe someone here has an idea? Maybe it's not even India but something Arabic? Idk.

Dimensions are 15,3mm x 18,5mm and exactly 5mm thick.

I don't have a precise scale but it comes to about 11g

I will label the pictures with “side 1” and “side 2” in case I upload more images in different rotations, light and angles so you don't get confused.

Thank you for everyone who can give me any informations.

Yes, most likely Indian. The rectangular shape might indicate a coin from the Sultans of Malwa, or the Malwa mint of the Mughals.

Here are a few examples of Malwa coins of about same weight and size for comparison. The worn condition of the coin makes identification more difficult, but cropped photos, additional photos, and a weight to the nearest tenth of a gram could help.
