Bad translation, Ukrainian coin [решено]

Ukrainian coin 1 hryvnia, Volodymyr The Great is named as “Vladimir The Great”, which is incorrect.

Both are correct, “Volodymyr” is based in Ukrainian pronunciation and Vladimir is the English translation and the more well-known name (in English).

So, “Vladimir” is correct. I think.

What bothered me is that his name is rendered differently in the coin and banknote catalogues in Numista. Some casual reader may not notice immediately both refer to the same person.

I think we should stick with one preferred version for the page title and refer to both in the text body (perhaps rendering the alternate name in parenthicals).

He appears on pieces from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, the Rus of Kyiv/Kiev and perhaps others. Perhaps Numista could have different policies for different issuers.

You are right. The same name must be used throughout English text in Numista. I am sure this happens with many other names and expressions.

Maybe the Numista robot can solve this, replacing on the English side:

• Volodymyr → Vladimir

I do not know if there is any method of suggest replacements to the Numista robot.
