10 Réis - Maria I and Pedro III [решено]

8 сообщений • просмотрено 62 раз

Hi

I recently bought a small collection of world copper / bronze coins

Most I have identified but I am stuck on a few. One of the coins I am trying to identify is a 10 Réis - Maria I and Pedro III

The date is worn but I think its 1781 ? There are 37 Pearls and the date has no dots on either side

The description is 397 or 40 pearls but I don't know whether the 397 should be 39 or 37

“KM #201 1781 - Bentes 276.03 - Date without dots; Appears with 397 or 40 pearls.”

Or I might have made a mistake !

If someone might be able to confirm that would be fantastic

Thank you in advance for your help

Agreed 1781 W/O dots, 37 pearls. Could be inaccurate or incomplete information on the Numsita page. I checked elsewhere and information and photos are limited for the 1781 date. Perhaps somebody with a standard catalog of world coins could clarify and update the information on the Numista page for this specific date.

Many thanks for your help Harry !

Not sure if my Bentes (2014) changed numbers, but this is the page of your coin. I guess.

It says “the numbers of pearls may vary between 37 to 48”

This from the SCWC (no image, no talk about anything!):

Perhaps just change the note on the 1781 line - 275.03  - date without dots;  Appears with  37 -40 pearls? Possibly a simple typo when first documented in the Numista catalog?

Done.
