Would somebody please be so kind as to point me in the correct direction for this coin's identification … that's if it is a coin… I think it is…
This item is 17.4mm across, weight is approx 1.5g and thickness 1mm.
Ok so its a really grotty coin and has little tiny scratches in places in the black (for want of a better description) showing through what looks to be bronze.
The gentleman depicted seems to be wearing some type of headdress of oblong shapes with a tassel at the back and a toga with some kind of shoulder strap on the left shoulder?!
Writing around the edge seems to kind of “slip” off the sides so only parts visible rather than full words.
Second photo I am unsure if its right way up or not its a direct turn to the back of the coin (180 degrees right to left)
I have thrown it over to google lens which took me to view some roman coins 🙄 I struggle still with the modern ones never mind throwing me in that direction.
Ok so it may or may not get consigned to the dustbin but before that decision comes I want to know what it is….. even if it is a modern coin that's just had a really hard life.
So looking for a lot of help really!
Many thanks
