Hello

Welcome aboard 😃

Unfortunately, the overall design of your coin just looks anachronic, limit stupid.

Thanks for ur input. Don't know wether you are trying to be rude or did I post it in the wrong category?

Welcome to Numista. I cant say if yours is genuine or not for certain but this info will get you started. My opinion is that yours is not genuine as it just doesn't pass the eye test. It looks like a crude copy of a crudely made coin.

Edit: Sorry, I was having trouble attaching a Numista link and it took a while.

Attempting to replicate this one? Although it is similar in weight and size the beard comparison for instance just doesn't pass the eye test:

With the value assigned to it, it would be very profitable to replicate this coin and pass them off as genuine if possible. $310,000 @ Extra Fine?

You're both right 😏
The evening was so drunk that at first glance I thought it was an allegory of a hypothetical goddess of lust on the reverse instead of the Satyr father of Dyonisos 🙃

Understandable. Nothing wrong with wine and lust now and then. I just hope the OP comes back.😁

its a crudely made replica, real coin is silver and the details are very sharply striked, the Naxos Tetradrachm is known as one of the best ancient coins ever strucked

I am more experienced in the field of ancient and chinese coins, south-east asian coins included too!

It is silver under the Silver sulfide.. and thank you for all the information it's much appreciated.

Any recommendations on where I could send it because I feel before someone actually looks at it in person it would be hard to be 100 percent positive it's a fake.

the Italian lady it came from had it passed down from her father who's father gave it to him. She talked about how her grandpa found it in Rome or somewhere like that and I'm not saying that makes it real, they could have just found a fake thinking it's real. Thanks again for u guys taking the  time to help.

Bring it to your local coin shop and try to find one that specialises in ancients, get their opinions before sending to NGC ancients

My opinion about local coin shops is mixed. Most don't have a “ancient expert” specializing in Greek/Roman/.Sicily/Naxos coins. I dont think they would be able to tell you anything more than what was stated here. For absolute certainty, if you send it to one the the top professional grading companies they will see to it that a specialist looks at it. Yes, time consuming and it will cost you but you will get a definitive answer and if genuine, they document it and guarantee it. If not, your money was well spent for that certainty that it is not genuine and forever having that doubt. If it is not genuine, they will not even grade it and return it as such.

Harry you are right that sound like the best thing I could do. Especially for the slim chance it could be genuine.

Oh man that would be cool , even tho you guys are probably right .

Thanks again to everyone that has commented.

Hoping for you that its real, these things go under the hammer for a lot if genuine
