What does the “ (fr) rare ” reference mean associated with the  Mexico 1966 Cincuenta Centavo coin?  Thanks!

Welcome to numista

When there is nothing in entered in the year line on the English side of the database,, the comment from the French side is given, hence the (fr)ench, in this case the mention “rare”, which is a term, which should not be used in numista, since it's completely subjective. Read the mintage and make your own opinion.

Welcome to Numista. Agreed. Do not place too much weight on that term. It is “rare” relative to the mintages of the others years of the same type but they are still abundant and readily available especially in lower grades. Only in pristine condition does that date command higher value and not much at that.

Thank you!
