Error identification & value quarter dollar 2007

5 сообщений • просмотрено 62 раз

Hello everyone,

I'm new to collecting coins . I have a lot and upon inspecting them I stumbled on this interresting one.

Is this an error, what kind and does it have any value?

I think it's lamination but I guess there are some trained numismatics here to help me out.

USA ¼ dollar, Wyoming, front and back error.

Thanks in advance!

Greetings Numi77

I agree that at least te obverse looks like a lamination error given the otherwise good condition of the coin.

I usually look for the value of such errors on eBay, using the Sold Items filter only (not the asking price).

Thank you for your reply and also good tip to look on sold item filter! I find it hard to determine value as most are quite unique.

You are unlikely to find an error on exactly the same coin, but look for lamination errors on recent U.S. quarters that look like yours, broad and shallow.

Nice find.  The few lamination errors I've run across on U.S. coins are old Jefferson Nickels which were quite prone to lamination for some reason, and they are not worth much, maybe a few bucks.

And … Welcome to Numista!

Thank you!
