Soviet coin dates unlisted?

6 сообщений • просмотрено 114 раз

Hi all, I got ahold of these yesterday and couldn't find the dates listed. Possibly someone who knows these coins better might know. Dimensions are the same as the usual coinage

Edit: I tried searching by year and the 20k was listed, but all years were changed to 1924(?) and would not show on the search results. The 3k I cannot find for the type and year

Ah, I see. There isn't 'CCCP' at the bottom of the obverse text.

The Krause cataloge lists this as a rarity for 1931, but not for 1932.

I was thinking it was a mule with the 15k coin

New year lines are not locked. 3 kopeks without CCCP exist in 1931 (already in numista), 1932 (fedorin 26), 1933 (fedorin 29), 1934 (fedorin 32). Obverse of 20 kopeks 1931 as per Fedorin.

3 kopeks and 20 kopeks diameter is the same. Problem with calling it a mule is that 20 kopeks with CCCP and smaller 10/15 kopeks with - exist too. More likely way is that kopeks with CCCP are still using design before 1931, which would make them mules. But bronze ones continued using old obverse design more often than using 1931-34 design.

If you are looking for Soviet variants, Fedorin is more extensive source than Krauze. Year modifications are up for review.
