I have this 5 mark coin - it has luster but in what grade would it be?

-XF due to the quantity of small nicks on the obverse, (that's just my opinion).

Yes, even with luster it doesn't matter. The number of scratches on the coin and small nicks on the rim make it at best an XF.

For this coin with 1,25 mln mintage for this year/mint only and absolutely enormous total mintage figures for this type the grading is a purely scholastic exercise, since unless the coin is truly UNC and has a high MS number, its price is determined by silver market rate. Today's BV is a bit less than 5 Euro. Notwithstanding catalog valuations for any grade below UNC, if I get 8 Euro for such a coin, I'd consider it a lucky day.
