Unknown Byzantine Follis #2

Hello all,

I have recently bought a coin that I know is from the Byzantine Empire but I am unsure who the emperor is as well as when the coin was made. The lettering is in pretty good shape but I still learning to properly read and transcribe the Greek that is present on it.

Here are the specs:

- Bronze composition

- Image of Jesus on the obverse

- Around 17mm in diameter

- 1 to 2mm in thickness

- 5.24g

So I had tried looking this up using the help you gave (even though I know how to use the forum as I have been on here for years) and I still cannot seem to find where it is on the forum. Have you any idea what this could be, or even a ruler?

OK, I could not find it either.

The type with bust of Christ  obverse and four line inscription reverse was struck by several emperors between 969-1028, but always with reverse inscription IhSUS / XRISTUS / bASILEUS / bASILE  as far as I can tell.

You coin appears to have the emperor's name (COnST) on the top line of the inscription.

Possibly that makes it an imitation.  Principalities east of the boundaries of the empire were copying Byzantine coins at that time, and are often identified by their blundered legends:
