I would like to review the circulation coins issued by Brunei from 2017 to the present in this topic, as I believe there is some errors in the catalog and some type of coin is missing.

I am not requesting changes or new pages, as I prefer to ensure the issue is resolved by discussing the different options in this topic.

To summarize, since 2017 (the Silver Jubilee year, when all circulating coins were modified, although I would only consider the 2017 50 Sen coin to be commemorative, as it does include a commemorative legend while the others do not), the coins are:

2017-2021 (Reverse lettering: AUTORITI MONETARI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM and NON MAGNETIC)

2022 (Reverse lettering: BRUNEI DARUSSALAM CENTRAL BANK and NON MAGNETIC)

2023 (Reverse lettering: BRUNEI DARUSSALAM CENTRAL BANK and MAGNETIC or NON MAGNETIC) For this year, I have 1 Sen magnetic and non-magnetic versions. I don't know if the rest of this year's coins have the non-magnetic version (the magnetic version is on all of the 2023 coins).

I have some of this coins and see UCoin Brunei Catalog:

This is quite confusing, what can be done right now?

By my reckoning, we can add the following:

2023 5 sen

2022 10 sen

2023 10 sen

2023 20 sen

2023 50 sen

We can also remove the following dates:

2022 from N#128397

2022 and 2023 from N#128398

2023 from N#414221

and move owners to the new pages above except for the 2022 20 sen which goes here.

We will then have following types:

5 sen: 2017-2021, 2023

10 sen: 2017-2020, 2022, 2023

20 sen: 2017-2021, 2022, 2023

50 sen: 2018-2021, 2023

@ceh2019  summed it up perfectly. Someone needs to create the new pages and then delete some year lines and move users. I'll try to create the new pages myself these days; like you, @Jarcek , I've also been sick with Covid. I hope you've recovered by now; I'm working on it.

I have already submitted the request to create all the missing pages.

Once they are approved, the users will need to be moved to the corresponding year lines, but first we must wait for these 5 new pages to be approved (5 Sen 2023, 10 Sen 2022 and 2023, 20 Sen 2023 and 50 Sen 2023).

I did already move the users from 2022 and 2023 here N#128398  and put them in the later type for now (I realize 2023 will make another change when the new listing is approved).

PLEASE NOTE THAT WITH THE CHANGE FROM CU-NI to Ni plated STEEL IN 2023, THE WEIGHT AND SIZE CANNOT BOTH REMAIN THE SAME.  So, somebody will need to do some research (or measure their coins) to find out if the weight has changed or the thickness has changed.

When the new listings are approved, please give me a poke and I will take care of the date lines.  Jarcek is on some other projects.

Hi, many thanks!!! I have 2023 20 Sen magnetic, so I will try to check weight and size on monday.

I will poke when new listings are approved. ;)

EDIT: According Brunei Central Bank, the size and weight is the same of the “old” non magnetic coins:

Coin referee for: Andorra, Equatorial Guinea, Marshall Islands, Moldova, Liberia and Spain
Banknote referee for: Andorra, Equatorial Guinea and Spain

We can use the same weight and diameter.

Based on science, it is not possible for the coins to also be the same thickness.   Cu-Ni alloys for coinage have a density around 8.95 g/cm3; most steel has a density around 7.9 g/cm3.  Even if the nickel plating comprised 50% of the thickness of the coin, the density of the plated steel coin would be 8.4 and the thickness would need to be 6% greater to reach the same weight.

I think you are right, I will try to find the thickness of the new 20 Sen 2023 coin and let you know the result ;)

Hi, it's curious that on this next page, the lines for the years 2022 and 2023 are no longer there (which is correct), but in features the range of years 2017-2023 still appears, what is the reason for this?

N#128398

I haven't been able to check the thickness of the 20 Sen coin yet, and the creation requests still haven't been approved. I'll let you know.

Features box is mirror dimension to the not so distant past. (It will correct itself soon.)

I took the opportunity to add images to two creation requests I made on November 7th (and still haven't been approved...). Maybe an admin can approve this?

The caliper I'm using to measure the thickness of magnetic coins isn't working, but it seems to me that if there's a difference, it's very small (not visible to the naked eye).

3 of 5 new pages approved, two still pending, thanks Jarcek.

5 new coins have been accepted. Now an admin can move members and delete years lines as we comment in this Topic.

Many thanks!!!

OK. Working on it.

I have moved collections for the 10 Sen and 20 Sen years that were incorrect, and removed those date lines.

I think this completes it, so I will mark it Done, but if I have missed something, please post here.
