A puzzle of a coin

Do you know what this puzzling coin might be? Any clues or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

The back of the coin somewhat resembles but does not quite match the crowned monogram of Russian Tsar Nikolai I. Of course, this could be just a curious coincidence, as the coin might very well be much older or from an entirely different part of the world. I am really not sure.

Thank you so much for any insights you can offer,

Mark

While I don't have an exact ID for you, I CAN confirm this is not a coin. While I can't speak to it's age, at best it could be an older type of jeton/token. Most likely, some sort of modern fantasy coin/token.

The mystery remains: What is this curious metallic object? Where does it come from? When was it made?

Is it a monetary coin or a some kind of token? I can only confirm that it is not a modern fantasy token due its provenance.

This coin has been passed on in my family for three generations, from my grandfather to my father to me. It is part of my grandfather's collection of primarily silver coins from France, Russia, and Poland, most three to four hundred years old. Of course, my grandfather may not have know what exactly it was when he acquired it. Sadly, he is no longer with us. In the collection, it is the only coin that I cannot identify.

Thank you so much for your help with this puzzling coin, – Mark

As pointed out by Reslumi, some things can be ruled out based on the appearance.

Not  a Polish coin.

Looks like a crowned bust facing left, wearing some kind of armor (chain mail?).  Cyrillic script I think, which, again, rules out some possibilities.  If someone could take a stab at what it says, that could help.

Can anyone please help to decipher the inscription on the coin?

Aside from the crowned “H” monogram, it seems like the inscription is the best clue we have. I am afraid that I am not so good with Cyrillic and related scripts, so I am struggling to make out what it may say.

Thank you so much for all the kind help you can contribute to solving this little mystery, – Mark
