If possible has any one got or can point me in the right direction on actual sales figures for this coin please, and also what grade you would give. Also would you say the first E in Helvetica is worn or an error as the rest looks very good.
just found this one on Ebay £300 or make an offer

can't say I know much about this coin but the ebay price seems ridiculous, especially for its respective condition

As to the coin pictured I'd grade it at a good F but I want to say a little nicer, maybe just because its in remarkably good condition for its age

but honestly don't count on me for expert testimony on this one

Tony,
IMHO, your coin is VF, E in Helvetica looks to be a mint error (some metal sliver got into the die probably).
Monetrend estimates it as R (rare) and for SS (VF) valuates it in 230 Euro.

Here is a 2010 sale for two coins, and the 1850AB one is poorer than yours.

Another sale by Heritage on Jan 12, 2004
This coin was graded by NGC as MS62 and sold  for $552 including premium

All in all, my congratulations on your find, if the coin is yours already.

I collect coins and tokens which circulated in Africa from 18th century to 2000. I sell about 7000 illustrated world coins from http://www.avscoins.com.
A very beautiful coin. Did I mention I collect Swiss coins, Tony? :wiz:
I'd put that between a F and a VF, it's the reverse that would have swung it to Full VF or higher.  Still a very nice example of an 1850AB.  Yours I'd place nearer to the $300 range.  Really nice find!

I've got an 1850BB, not nearly in great of shape.  Because it's a BB, totally different price-range (as in dirt cheap).  About half of the shield lines are rubbed flat.

I have both the 10 and 20 1850BB in not so good condition, which will be going on my swap list among a few others from Switzerland.

Hi Ben, yes I'm aware you collect these coins; I will send you some pictures later today as I have just been getting several decent ones.
