Santa finally arrived with a super December swap!

Each pile is country

Just one highlight as I sort through it all;

You must be a real nice child, if Santa brings you such a big lot of coins😜

...you can run,  but you can't hide...

Hello everyone,

beautiful additions! Now it's my turn. Considering that Christmas is around the corner, I decided to buy myself some new coins as an early present! Considering that the shop didn't have anything from Danzig, I decided to settle for some Polish coins. And I must say that I am very happy.

First of all, this coin:

N#16739

It looks quite a bit better in person, the photod were taken without a set-up. like it quite a lot, even more as I learned that the shop rarely has them.

Next up, Piłsudzki once again! This time it's that coin:  N#9872 (date 1935)

I was also missing a 5 Złoty coin with Piłsudzki, so now I had a chance to fill that hole. It is not in the best of conditions, I have to admit! But it was very cheap, so I couldn't pass up.

Now, for the best purchase. Another 5 Złoty coin ( N#24008 ) with, you guessed it, Piłsudzki once again! But with the rifle corps eagle.

It's an amazing coin. Not a bad condition, surprisingly shiny and does not appear to have ever been cleaned! So, that's all for my Christmas shopping, with an unintentional motive overall! I guess I have found a new area to fill eventually. I might end up looking for all coins from the Second Polish Republic with Piłsudzki. And probably also Polonia; that's what I got myself last time.

So, merry Christmas everyone, kind regards and have an amazing rest of the year! :D

Citkane's image, reminds me of the old days, when I bought a big bag of world coins off my dove shop ladies in the 2010s and I had to arrange the coins in country piles, as I added them to my Numista list.

Long before the past 2 years of overpriced gold and silver pieces worth hundreds I deal with now. The fun of collecting never dies.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Here is another piece where in these days I ask myself if the world has gone upside down. Just 20yrs ago, most sane people would have associated this individual as a scam artist, probable child molestor and some even called him a rapist and murderer. But it seems money and time can heal all.

Ahh, a perenial spiritual saviour… A good coin to have!

Part of my December haul is this beautiful world map from Tokelau;

That’s quite a unique map of the globe design.

another nickel silver coin (one of three issued) commemorating the Arya Samaj founded by Swami Vivekananda. It’s associated with the Ram Krishna mission. Ive included a picture of one of their temples next to my local gymkhana. IMO very peaceful place and I like the understated , yet elegant design asthetics of their temples

Just in time for Christmas in the post today . A small “junk” bag of modern pre euro coins I paid £2.77 for with postage because I wanted the one Ceylon coin I could see. Ended up having 2 more nice bonus coins I didnt see in the lot that I don't have along with the Ceylon 1910 25 cents. A 1900 Netherlands 1 cent and a 1928 Irish half penny.

Love those polish coins @DanzigCoins ! I was lucky enough to get a similar one for myself last month. This time i have some other stuff though!

This absolutely stunning riksdaler from 1777 entered my collection a few days ago! The condition on this is amazing considering its age!

It also has a beautiful yellow and blue tone that i sadly was not able to show well in a picture, still looks fantastic both on picture and in person too!

This quadrans from Caligula N#247169 is very interesting considering it is from one of the craziest roman emperors ever!

And finally this really cool piece of spade money from ancient china N#58514 is a great addition to my collection considering these are more fakes than real ones and its age. I’m happy it came with a certificate!

These are of course not the only coins added to my collection this month, they’re just the best ones. I’ll post pictures of some other ones once i get home from the christmas celebration with my family.

:)

@BrunoCoins @Moneytane

You have some nice Irish coinage there.
Examples of the coins are easier to come by here (Ireland), Before the the coinage was reduced in size, I used to get bags of coins from the bank - I got lots of later florins and shillings, but never a silver coin - they had all been pulled out of circulation long before I got going in the 1990s!. I did get a farthing in my change once though, pretending to be a penny. I also got a vg grade 1930 English florin in my change! I still have both.

My last banknote of 2025 arrived a few days ago.

Bank of Ireland £1 note 10 Jan 1918, the first date and prefix of the small size multibranch notes - a note I have been chasing for over a decade :)

Some of my December additions.. :D

大家好!好久不见!

Happy holidays everyone,  but I've been lurking in the meantime and there have been so many wonderful additions this year despite all the crazy things that have been happening lately. I haven't been collecting much lately due to various life changes (moving, school, finances, etc.) but I've been lurking in the meantime. I received this 1oz silver Chinese panda mint medal from my father as a gift for Christmas and I'm quite happy with it. Not only do I enjoy looking at the adorable pandas on the obverse, but the scenes of the Great Wall and the Smithsonian juxtaposed on the reverse are quite intriguing as well. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to take advantage of this rather irritating spike in the price of silver, but either way it seems like turbulent waters ahead . . . I hope everyone has something to look forward to in 2026 as I  also try to look for more reasons to be optimistic. Happy New Years!

Take a penny, leave a penny... or two

Switzerland 2 francs 1955 received today.

Nice 55 2 frank! I have a passion for Swiss francs.

Some end of the year silver stacking. I did the math on the silver in this lot, I paid US$10 per franc a week or so before christmas, which was on the high side at that moment., and now thats below melt.

I love all these, the France 1881 2 fr has a  marvelous color I think is called lake, red-brown.

the holed and grafiteed 1850 franc is a treasure in its own way.

also some extra fine rappen coins. I am building date sets of all dates of the modern Swiss franc 1850 through 1982.

1922 is nearing completion.

I have had special interest in Tunisia coins in recent years. This month I have found some non-silver coins from Tunisia that fill holes in date sets.

all struck at Paris.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Years to everyone!

My coin buying has largely slowed down from previous months, although I have bought a couple new coins here and there this month. This one arrived in the mail today, in between the Chrissy/NY public holidays.

Australia 1934-35 Melbourne Centenary Florin

I actually showed another one of these earlier this month, although this one is in significantly better condition. You will notice the toning on both sides of this coin. These MC florins are not generally toned, so I was pretty happy to get this one considering all of my other Melbourne florins are white and shiny. It's not for everyone, but I personally love the way this one looks.

There is a chance that this one spent a significant amount of its life in a ‘Foy & Gibson' paper envelope to develop such toning - if it was one of the ones issued by Foy & Gibson. (I can explain more on this if anyone is interested, but I have also talked about the Foy & Gibson envelopes in other threads, so it should be easily searchable).

I will have to have a good look now through this month's additions from everyone, as I haven't really opened Numista since my last post.

And, here's a photo of it next to a 1927 Parliament House florin with comparable toning:

Some beautiful Bolivian coins.

Moneytane

Great group - despite my obsession with the UK and gold - I love shiny modern world sets  and you have some beauties here. I love those obscure African, Latin and Arabic countries, in which coins are nigh on impossible to find, especially shiny new ones.

I bought some like the Lebanese (Only down to 25 Livres) and the Sao Tomean set and some of the Iranian coins last year - but your group is the best I have seen. Great work. I also have the Domincan 5 pesos but none of the others.

Can answer 2 questions though  The 3 pesos of Cuba with Che Guevara, is a standard circulating coin, now worth just a few cents, its weird too as its just marginally larger than a 1 peso coin. Also the Vanuatu 100 vatu was introduced around 1988 when inflation dictated it. The only coin set of Vanuatu issued was in 1983 when this set debuted, and it stopped at the 50, as the 100 was a note. Also you may notice the metal of the 1 to 5 vatu is the same as the 100 vatu.

Vanuatu like many small islands only issued new coins every few years and thus annual sets were not a thing, but 1983 was the first year and there was a set. In 2015 those coins were replaced with this set which covered 5 to 100 vatu.

Again cheap and durable steel replaced better quality Cupro nickel and brass and all these are plated steel.

Thank you! Yes, some coins are indeed almost impossible to get in uncirculated condition. I often have to break up FM sets, because it's the only just impossible to get them otherwise. The good thing, they generally do not have any additional value. (at least here)

Vanuatu also issued a 2015 set, which I am currently hunting for. It doesn't seem to be rare, but for now I haven't been able to find one. I suppose, it is more common in Australia, where it was produced.

Last additions of 2025:

Ghana: 10, 20, 50, and 100 cedis - 1991. From FM set. Unfortunately, some coins have fingerprints, but it's very hard to find better examples of them. If possible at all

Kuwait: entire latest series of circulating coins. All from 2013

Eastern Caribbean States: 1, 2, 5 cents -2002; 10, 25, cents and 1 dollar - 2004. Full series from early 2000's, but since then a newer type of three higher denominations was issued.

Cuba: 5 cents - 2009, 10 cents - 2002, 25 cents - 2005, and a 1988 aluminum INTUR 1 cent.

Colombia: 10 and 20 peso -1991,  and 50 peso 1990

Romania: 5, 15 bani - 1975 type;  25 bani - 1982 type;  1, 3 lei - 1966 type;  5 lei - 1978 type. In Romania they did not change the year, so the year you see is the year when that type was introduced. These coins came from an FM set, which had been stamped on 8th of July, 1983, so these coins should've been issued before that date. (Assuming that date can be trusted).

It is not visible well on pictures, but 15 and 25 bani have strong die cleaning marks.

Philippines: 10 and 50 cent - 1958

Nepal: 1 rupee - 2020

Bulgaria: 1 stotinka - 1951

I also got this Italian 500 lira for slightly below melt for my stack. And also received a 2015 Oman coin as a gift from the seller.

Happy New Year!

Some beautiful Bolivian coins.

Nice group indeed. I especially like the Art Deco script on the 1937.

I have this medal from Uruguay at the same period.
