Help with ID on Belgian/French Item (2 of 2) [решено]

4 сообщений • просмотрено 40 раз

Hi:

I was in Brussels this last summer and picked up a few things.  There are two things I've not had success with identifying and this post is to address one of them.  I've searched high and low, but as this is outside of what I normally pursue, I haven't had much of any success figuring out what it is.  I suspect its a Jeton or maybe a reproduction.

Points of confusion:

  • The lack of a date; and
  • The Engraver initials of “W.L.”

4.78 grams

28.7 mm

Obverse Text:  LVDOVICVS XIII D.G. FRANCOR ET NAVF W.L.

Reverse Test:  RE(Blundered) SACRA FOET(Blundered/Off Flan)AGN W.L.

Any help is much appreciated.

Best,

Mike

Maybe WL is Wolff Lauffer engraver / mint master.

I have seen this design before, will try to find it …

Hi Zac:

I think you nailed it!  Thank you so much, I was going a little crazy not being able to find anything on it.

Solved!

Best,
Mike
