Hi,

I would like to kindly ask for your assistance in identifying a silver coin in my possession.

The coin measures approximately 10.9mm in width, 11.6mm in height. Weight: 0.25g.

Any guidance or expertise you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

If needed, I would be happy to provide additional photographs or details to support the identification process.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Looks like an English ‘long cross’ silver Penny.

With lettering in each quarter of second picture,

so lower left should be LON as above it is DON

making it minted in London.

On the right may be CIVI and TAS

so it is CIVITAS LONDON lettering.

Its size and weight closely match those of an Edward II silver farthing. Only the king’s portrait is different.

Similar portrait - size is smaller but it has been clipped

The ‘8’ beneath the king’s bust matches as well, which suggests that the coin is in fact from the reign of Henry VII.

Thank you very much for your help in identifying the coin.

Shame that last picture did not say the size.

This is with some lettering added

[H D G ROSA SIE SPIA]

"H D G ROSA SIE SPIA" is a Latin inscription from Henry VIII's coins (1526-144),

meaning "Henry Dei Gratia Rosa Sine Spina" or "Henry by the Grace of God,

a rose without a thorn," symbolizing his rule and divine right, found on his pennies and

halfpennies from his second coinage, often alongside mint names like London or Durham.

So, is this an accurate description of the coin?
"1526-1544: England ½ Penny - Henry VIII. Weight: 0.25g. "

Apart from - it was off another page that did not mention diameter -

could still be a farthing like the earlier one. Or a different Henry.
