Japanese Ryō coin identification help

3 сообщений • просмотрено 46 раз

I recently bought a Japanese Ryō coin and am interested in collecting more of them but I would love to know if someone can help me to learn how to identify them.

In later Japanese coins the emperor is always stated with a symbol, but from what I can see these Ryō coins all have the same characters for a given denomination. How do you identify which emperor it is? Or is it just a matter or looking at the details of the characters? Is there a place I can find more info?

Also any tips on avoiding fakes?

Without pictures, it will be very difficult for anyone to help you. Could you please post clear pictures of each side of your item?
