I have cropped the picture so it can be viewed better and then hopefully graded, as for value nothing worth speaking about to be honest. My personal grade would be a simple space filler and nothing more, sorry.
Don't do that - its the worst thing ever; would you like to buy a fake ? Because it's the same thing, keep it until a better comes along ! I bet I could give you a better one !
My friend, each man or woman lives by one's own ideology, and what and where I consider my life I find I fight new wars daily - so yes it would be in the trench.
So you're not wanting any fakes yourself, but you are OK to make that penny into something it's not. People will be buying it thinking an antique trench-made item, but really it's just something that you found too shoddy for your collection, so decided to make a few quid off it.. Not too impressive like mate.
NO you misunderstand - I find this coin to be of value in mine eyes. I am am just being bitter because of a recent swap gone sour, where I lost a 1921 coin to someone. So one could say I am just slightly upset, and when I make trench rings I always state to the buyer that it is modern.
I get the whole fake thing. Since the grade is so poor, it isn't worth anything. If you had a fake/repro/whatever, it would still be worth nothing, but at least you could have a beautiful looking "coin".
As far as turning it into a ring, I say go ahead. You say you disclaim as a modern recreation, so there is no deception. And you increase the value of that coin for everyone else that has one by making them more scarce. It's a win-win in my book.
