hi all,

I looked through the thematic threads and found nothing, if i missed something, please let us know. More precisely i'm looking for more coins showing the sun with a human face in center.

Catalog search gives 4 results, 2 matching, 2 not.

This theme seems more important since i learned that the first US cent has this motive too. More examples from my collection are these:

2 Lei 2018. Then south america, bolivia, uruguay and peru:

and indian states, Indore

Some of these issuers have similar types.

Let us get to know further examples from your collection or from your knowledge.

Not sure if it really counts, because the sun is behind the face, rather than the face being on the sun.  But the New Zealand 1940 centennial half crown.

The first official United States circulation coin:  Fugio Cent (1787)

(Mentioned in the OP’s initial post)

Mint mark at 10 o'clock was used on Commonwealth of England coins from 1649 to 1658.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

many thanks to all for your input.

I knew argentina (having 4 types) and i enjoyed to see the beautiful tokens and the old english mintmark.

Scolling through auction catalogs i found 2 types from german states:

catalog WAG 106

N#267978

and catalog Möller 86

N#120274

It's a pity, some kind of mission impossible.

thank you and a great find.

The smiling sun isn't a part of design, it is the design. Meanwhile i found coins of nicaragua, several types showing a smile in the background, for example N#4032
