Are UK Sterling Coins Worth More than Melt in Lower Grades?

I have a number of sterling silver shillings of Queen Victoria (and a few from Edward VII and George V) that I bought for around melt and the majority of them are somewhere in the FR02-G04 range though some are VG-VF. Are these worth more than melt? Not sure if it's worth grabbing them at my LCS when they show up in the junk bin.

my opinion is that with the Silver increase, many low grade coins who had a small premium are now sold at Spot Or above melt.
if anything you‘re saving them from been melted . Look for key dates and/or best grades.

if coin shop could sell with a premium they would . On the other hand US market might not be to interested in foreign coins.

For the last year I see average circulated, common date silver sell for under melt at every show I go too. Lower denominations like 3p, 6p, shillings are well under melt. Even Queen Victoria coins, which always had some premium, land in the “junk” bin these days. Every day of the week. If silver falls you'll never recover your money so buy what you like but dont expect any profit.

I suppose we're seeing this with a lot of US coins too at this point. I know morgans and peace dollars are selling for 5%-10% under melt even when uncirculated since the refineries are backed up. I remember when common date circulated dollars were going for $20 when melt was $13.

It's a good thing then that I like the design of Pre-George V designs. I wonder if we'll ever see pre-Victorian coins or odd denominations pop up in junk bins. I wouldn't mind adding some more George IV or William IV or 1.5d/4d coins to my collection.

Oh, is that your etsy account you linked to? Are those are your coins for sale?

PS: yes, it's a different audience and different suppliers too. Etsy was made for craftworkers who create the products they sell. A large fraction, if not a majority of what's listed on etsy now is just mass-market, made-in -China nonsense or thrift shop finds. Etsy sold its soul to the devil. Darn shame.
