hello everyone, i have a very small queen victoria head <not bun head> the coin is in good condition but as it is so small i am struggling to read the writing on it. i think it says nurenburg and it looks like shillig rather than shilling i am guessing maybe round late 1880's to 1890's. would anyone have any info on this coin and does it have any value. cheers. bill.
Could you post some photos and dimentions?

From what I can find, it seems to be a toy coin: http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/opac/search/cataloguesummary.html?_searchstring_=(((((maker=%27Lauer,%20Ludwig%20Christian%27)))))&_startfrom_=101&_function_=xslt&_resultstylesheet_=imagecs&_limit_=50&_sort_=
Hi bsabill, it sounds like you have one of the many types of play money or model coins, that children in Victorian and Edwardian times played with as a means of learning. I have a smallish collection myself. I think most were made in Nuremburg by Lauer, some  were made in England by Cooke, Moore and Hyams. Most are quite cheap to buy, just a few pounds. Hope this helps
hello again, measuring with a digital caliper the thickness is 0.69mm and its width is 12.65mm i have took a couple of photos but they are a bit blurred. i will have another go. cheers. bill.
hello again, it looks like i have toy money as one of the images looks similar to the coin on the website that i was kindly given to look at. i have a couple of other coins which are really old which i will post next. one is i believe a roman groat which my father dug up around 1960 when the torver bypass <near coniston cumbria> was being dug. it was in the local paper at the time. cheers. bill.
