Hello everyone, my father dug up what I believe to be a Roman groat in about 1960 when working on a site which was putting in a bypass. I have enclosed a couple of photos. Can anyone identify it and does it have any value?
 many thanks. bill.

It's definitely an Elizabeth 1st coin (possibly 3d), and not Roman.
What size is it?

2nd and 4th links work!
Hello jimpop, the coin is about 16mm wide and about .80mm thick, although it is out of shape a bit so could be a bit thinner if flattened. cheers. bill.
It looks like you have one of these.

Hello bsabill, the coin as jimpop so rightly said is an Elizabeth I. It's a halfgroat as depicted by the two little dots behind her head.
Dear richard,
Gimme credit for finding it.
Ok ZRS, but I thought bsabills father found it. :D
That's a good one, but I found the halfgroat pages.
