To me original toning, artificial toning would be also on the higher points of the coin.

"The ANA advises that sudden "hard line" changes in color do not occur on naturally toned coins. Naturally toned coins exhibit a gradual change in color or darkness."

Hmm - I collect toned coins and it's absolutely normal that some areas of a silver coin go from a golden yellow to a finer blue. Of course it was probably cleaned or polished in the past as they then often tend to also tone easily after some time. We can never now how old the toning is, it might have been cleaned and polished in the 1930's and then toned after that. One sign to detect unnatural toning is for example the smell (burned or sulfur egg smell) not always but pink and purple are almost always colors that result from artificial toning, toning on very recent coins although they are places where coins can tone quickly, rainbow coloured tonings on non silver coins, although old proof coins even in copper or bronze can also gain colorations sometimes even into a deep blue. To me this coin has at least a 95% chance of it being a natural toning.
