Gold(isch) 1 pfennig?

In finishing up a hoard from a lady who had lived in Germany a long time, I came across as 1991-G 1 Pfennig coin (Federal Republic) that is not copper color, it's a shiny gold color, with a much deeper gold than the brassy 10 pfennigs.  What am I looking at?  Did someone just plate it for kicks?  Is this from a special set?  No camera right now so no pictures, but has anyone heard of this?
